During a mini break in Japan I was contacted by Chinmay from DSJL who contacted me  about putting together an animated video for a experimental piece called Zindagi. Chinmay to his amazing credit is clearly a very visual person and to my joy he had already developed a storyboard he wanted us to develop. And so began the exploration of the music and Chinmay’s vision, which has become a piece which represents a journey through life, multi dimensional worlds and time. After several conversations we began developing a concept and it soon became clear that this wasn’t going to be a conventional animation, it was almost certainly going to be a new challenge for myself.

Client: Melbourne Well-Being centre

Title: Relationship’s animation

I love working on projects which I can learn from while I work on them. Hannah and Aaron from the Fitzroy based well-being centre had me over for a cup of tea to meet their cat and talk me through their idea.

As busy people, both working hard at the Melbourne well-being centre, they needed someone to come in and work with them on a animation that would promote their services. In once afternoon we sat down and came up with a strong yet simple storyline that focused on the key points they wanted to cover in the animated short. I suggested we break it up into four 10 second clips that they could then use across Facebook and Instagram, with the full version available at their website.

The animation discusses some of the most common traits in relationships and it suggests methods in addressing them in a positive way.

Client: Ideal

Title: Baby on the moon

Animated music video for the track “Baby on the moon” by Ideal.

Melbourne based hip-hop artist Ideal and myself worked together in producing the above video, the track is dedicated to his son Levi and his mantra “Reach for the sky”. The story within the lyrics tells us that before he tucks his son on each night the father tells his son to reach for the sky, this controls Levis imagination and each night he dreams of reaching the moon his trusted side-kick, the family dog Lieutenant Wanna-Sniff.

We had a lot of fun producing this content and it will accompany Ideals album launch Early 2018

Title: Strata Living Shorts – An animated take on some of the stories taken from the book “Strata Living Stories!” 

After the illustrations for Strata Living Stories were finalised we began promoting and marketing the book. The author, Stephan Raff,  had taken questions on radio and television however we decided we wanted to create some supporting material which could be displayed online. To highlight some of the stories we animated the following stories using the characters and backgrounds from the original artwork.

Title: The Footy Recording – Stadium sound, animated 

This animated short was a piece I wanted to work on after I attended a ‘Footy’ game at the Etihad Stadium, Melbourne. It was my first experience of an AFL game and I wanted to capture some of the sounds of the fans and the stadium sounds. After returning and playing back what I had recorded I began visualising a short animation so I applied the sound to a few sketches and it turned out like this.

Cinema Fantástico -“A cinema club for children in the community” 

The Cinema Fantástico is a project set up for children in South Bristol. In association with the Wallace & Gromit Grand appeal it gives opportunities to families looking for activities to spend with each other.

I met with Marina over a coffee and agreed to work with her on her Cinema Fantástico project, I worked voluntarily using her character designs to produce an animated intro to accompany all of the screenings at Cinema Fantástico. I enjoyed working with Marina, a creative and enthusiastic soul who’s passion was addictive.
